With Lightpalace, award-winning filmmaker, photographer, marine scientist, and National Geographic Explorer Dr. Shireen Rahimi tells stories that highlight the impacts of climate change and human activity on natural ecosystems—and the people who depend on them

Shireen received her PhD in Marine Science from the University of Miami. During her time in school, Shireen realized that her films were making a bigger impact than her scientific writing. After graduating in 2020, she started Lightpalace Productions, a full service video production company.

Since then, Shireen and her team have created films for Nature Conservancy Magazine, Parley for the Oceans, National Geographic Magazine, Oceana, Dell Technologies, ESPN, COP28 Dubai, Sierra Magazine, PBS, and international film festivals. Shireen has been featured as a contributor on National Geographic Sharkfest and ABC’s Localish, was named a Nautica ocean conservation Wavemaker, and has given keynote talks about her work at high-profile events around the world.

Through every aspect of her practice, Shireen is dedicated to telling stories that encourage activism and healing for the benefit of all beings everywhere.
